What website to employers use to check previous work history?

When I interviewed for a job a few months ago the woman spoke of a website they looked at that would tell them if I had been fired from a job or quit suddenly. Does anyone know what this website is? I just know of one particular previous employer that I have a mutual hate-hate relationship with and I want to make sure he's not trying to pull anything.

What website to employers use to check previous work history?
It is illegal for an employer to disclose that info. They only can say that they would or would not hire you again. The reason for termination is only an opinion of the employer and not a legal decision. Umless you done anything illegal there is no "digging".
Reply:Where do you live? Usually there is a database, but my company (and i say mine because my grandparents own it and I help out in HR) we get resumes from CalJobs (in california) and then interview and then call the previous jobs. We rarely do checks like that and when we do my manager does it... its some HR website but your employeers have to participate in it for you to be on it. I think...
Reply:I've never heard of such a database. I can't imagine it would be in employers' best interests to participate in such a database, as it would put them at risk of disclosing private details. Do you think she was trying to see your reaction?
